Don't Let The Forest In by Cg Drews

As alluring as it is unsettling, award-winning author CG Drews' debut YA psychological horror will leave readers breathless and hesitant to venture deeper into the woods. Once upon a time, Andrew had cut out his heart and given it to this boy, and he was very sure Thomas had no idea that Andrew would do anything for him. Protect him. Lie for him. Kill for him. High school senior Andrew Perrault finds refuge in the twisted fairytales that he writes for the only person who can ground him to reality—Thomas Rye, the boy with perpetually ink-stained hands and hair like autumn leaves. And with his twin sister, Dove, inexplicably keeping him at a cold distance upon their return to Wickwood Academy, Andrew finds himself leaning on his friend even more. But something strange is going on with Thomas. His abusive parents have mysteriously vanished, and he arrives at school with blood on his sleeve. Thomas won't say a word about it, and shuts down whenever Andrew tries to ask him questions...

Clear Your Shit: Falling Books! (Shiny/Magical)

We watch the witch for a few more minutes as she attempts to organize the books raining from the shelves before guilt takes over. Heather and I decide to slide back out the door. At least outside we can stay covered and avoid being squashed by more falling books. In here, we're sitting ducks. I slide in front of a tall tarnished mirror just next to the door when I force shoves me back into the middle of the tower. The Wizard! He's squeezing out of the narrow reflective surface and he does not look happy. As soon as he's through he reaches out and grips the witch by her collar as she passes, completely oblivious of his presence until it's too late.

"Why couldn't you have just done as you were told! You can forget getting paid!" He looks up and mumbles a 'you too' for some reason. He's odd, I don't know.

I heft my tooth club in his direction, but he's shielding himself with the poor witch, who's eyes are still darting around taking note of the books that thump around us. Heather has her feather gripped in her hand and is brandishing it like a wand. A book, Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko, falls dangerously close to the Wizard and causes him to jump in surprise, bringing him closer to us. I smile because now it's getting serious. This jerk Wizard is going down.
