Just in case you don't know, the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft (Institute for Sexual Science) was headed by Magnus Hirschfeld.  It was a resource for gay, intersex, and transgender people, both of knowledge and medical help. It also helped the community with addiction treatment and contraception. It wasn't perfect and some of the ideas they had seem out of date now, the ones we know about anyway. Clover Highhill Comes Home by Ennis Rook Bashe

Clover Highhill was just an ordinary person who lived in a cozy hole in the village and pined after their best friend. Now they're back from a great quest to destroy an evil mythical artifact, gravely injured in soul and body- and still pining. CLOVER HIGHHILL COMES HOME is a beautiful short story about coming home after grim and harrowing adventures, and confessing love to one’s recent traveling companion.

There are brief descriptions of relevant portions of the quest, but the heart of this story is Clover adjusting to life at home after their hand was damaged during the quest, and Jillian working up the nerve to tell Clover how she feels about them (with her fiancée’s help).

A brief read and very good, definitely check this one out.

CW for self harm/suicide attempt (backstory), suicidal thoughts, recovery from depression medical content, violence, animal death (backstory), death (backstory).
